December 16th is officially my one-year anniversary as a self-employed copywriter. I can’t believe it’s come so quickly!! I remember putting in my “I quit” notice to my boss (I was an English teacher at the time) and jetting out into the great unknown of entrepreneurship. I was totally freaked out. Before that moment, I was freelancing on the side and DEFINITELY not making enough to cover my monthly bills. Truth be told, I had no idea where the next dollar was going to come from. I had no website. No list. I didn’t even have what you would call “regular clients”—just a handful of people I was doing small, one-time projects for.

Fast forward to today. I’ve created a fully self-sustaining business. My skills are better. My calendar is booked. My ass is a litttttttttttle wider (ok, that happens with self-employment, I’ve heard. Butt Bible workout, anyone?!) And I am happy happy happy now. But it was definitely hard when I started.

Over the past year, I’ve learned a lot about stress and self-care—especially when it comes to writing copy. If you have a website, you are expected to juggle writing newsletters, blogs, and social media posts with the whole running your dang business thing. It can be a nightmare. I know, because I’ve totally been there. In the beginning, there were many 3 AM nights and caffeine-filled days—and sometimes it still didn’t all get finished! But as time went on, I started to pay attention to the habits that really supported healthy, happy copywriting (and those that didn’t). I began to teach them to my clients, and they started to feel their magic too. And now I’d like to teach them to you.

On December 11th, Stress-Less Coach Nicole Liloia and I are presenting a live, PITCH-FREE teleclass called ‪#‎Copystressed‬. We aren’t launching a program or trying to sell you anything you don’t need. This isn’t one of those webinars where the first 10 minutes is valuable but the rest of it is self-promotion. It’s just her + me giving you the tools that can take some of the stress out of writing your copy and running your business.
